Mission Statement and How to Donate
Purpose
The purpose of the Windham County Democratic Committee is to promote the principles of the Democratic Party within Windham County through the election of duly nominated candidates and by so doing, to help guarantee that all levels of government, local, state and national, function as a true democracy.
Membership
By law (Vermont Statutes Annotated, Chapter 13, Title 17, §727 and 729) the County Democratic Committee consists of members elected by the Town Committees and the Chairperson and Treasurer of the County Committee, if each is not already a County Committee member.
Each Town Committee may elect alternates to the County Committee (one for each three members or portion thereof). It will be the responsibility of the Town Committee delegates to arrange for an alternate to replace a delegate when that delegate is unable to attend a County Committee meeting. It will also be the responsibility of the Town delegates to pass on to the alternates all announcements and notices. When replacing a Town delegate, the alternate will vote and participate as a member.
